With so many latest UI and UX trends for mobile apps and websites, it can be not easy to keep up. When designing a new mobile app or website, the most important thing is to focus on two things: user experience (UX) and functionality (UI). There are a lot of latest trends in these two areas that we will go over them here. But before we get into it, we want to mention that the two topics are interdependent quickly.

The latest UI and UX trends for mobile apps and websites fall into five basic categories, each with its own focus and purpose. These include efficiency and scalability, information flow, usability, visual elements, and media support. While there may still be some disagreement and discussion about which of these should be the focus of a new app, it is safe to say that all of them should be considered. In fact, this is not even debatable anymore.

Before we go ahead, let’s understand what they both stand for separately:

User Interface (UI)

In the visual arts, a user interface is defined as space within a device or program used to allow a user to interact with a system. It may include controls for changing the visual display, commands for input, menus for managing multiple selections, and toolbars for selecting options. In computer science, it is defined as a set of processes that guides an application to effectively and reliably interact with its users. In industrial design, the term UI is used interchangeably with user experience, referring to how the output looks. In software engineering, user experience is what the user sees and understands, while user experience is what the user does in the presence of that output.

User Experience (UX)

The user experience or UX is how a user experiences and interacts with a product, system, or service. It includes a person’s perceptions of ease of use, utility, and efficiency. A usability study refers to any interaction that a person has with a digital product or service and forms their opinion of the product or service. Many corporate executives think of user experience design as synonymous with usability, but that is not the case. They are two separate concepts. To sum it up, a good user interface designer focuses on creating a communication process between a user and their digital product or service and ultimately making it easy for that user to use the product or service as intended by the designer. In turn, a great UI helps in delivering amazing UX, so both are necessary to pay heed to.

Latest UI & UX Trends

Precisely, mobile application & web development designing trends remain heavily dependent on the latest UI and UX trends. Mobile apps play an important role in this industry; more users have access to them at any time. Thus, companies that have an edge in creating user-friendly applications can establish a strong position. The latest UI and UX trends will largely depend on the device's functionality, available resources, and company strategy. This will influence both the complexity and the simplicity of the application.

Nowadays, these trends are a mixture of simplified, minimalism, rich color schemes, intuitive typography, and high-resolution, clear 3D visual elements.

  • Hybrid Experiences

UI and UX designers further explore interaction possibilities between devices and the Web. New technologies such as Silverlight, JavaFX, and Angular 2.0 will enable designers and developers to create hybrid experiences between mobile devices and the Internet. These upcoming innovations will support richer forms of interaction in the future. This gets largely driven by the need for faster, easier, and cost-effective mobile application development. Web developers will move away from HTML-based UIs to hybrid and object-oriented UIs that will allow access to native code as well as access to plugins. Hybrid mobile application development will also likely integrate seamlessly with its many new capabilities.

  • Better Speed & Response Time

It also encompasses a wide array of considerations and areas. UI and UX focus on speed and response time, interactive and user-friendly interface, ease of navigation, and ease of sharing information. A lot of these apps have been designed with a very simple and clear user experience in mind. This makes them fast and easy to use, which are key elements in delivering an effective user experience. A new and innovative user interface will help you stand out from your competitors. It should make using your application fast and fluid and allow the mobility of the user to do what they perform best - work.

  • Ease of Navigation

Another innovation is in website design and navigation. It is important to combine navigation and site performance to deliver high-value experiences. In this new era of mobile website design and development, it will be important to deliver compelling and seamless designs while simultaneously employing appropriate web technologies for optimal performance. This includes having an address bar that displays the user's contact number, providing direct links to the app's quick menu, supporting the location awareness of devices, and using widgets to access the user's home screen or task manager. The more users feel like they are navigating a familiar environment, the more likely they are to return to the application.

  • Voice Commands

UI and UX trends of the future will further incorporate voice user interface controls into all applications. Voice commands will replace keyboard shortcuts, which will become one of the most popular trends. Moreover, voice commands can integrate with existing application solutions to provide better utility and functionality.

  • Interactive 3D Technology

Web & apps of the future will also become more interactive. The new device landscape will also be influenced by upcoming trends such as holograms and 3D technology. These upcoming innovations aim to give users an experience that goes beyond the boundaries of the screen and into the real world. Users will be able to access real-life applications in the form of augmented reality and virtual reality.

We can even get to say that one of the most significant web and app design trends to have a glance at in the coming years is augmented reality. This will likely involve the use of virtual reality hardware like GPS, cameras, and microphones to help consumers locate and interact with products or services on their mobile devices. This will further increase with the integration of new and ever-evolving features that keep on updating with time.
